Camellia Ruby Wedding is a dense evergreen shrub with glossy deep green leaves that set off its fully petalled red flowers beautifully. The rounded buds open from late winter through early spring, giving a long display when gardens need colour most. Its rich flower colour and name make it a thoughtful anniversary gift, though it also works well as a feature shrub in borders or on a sheltered patio. Plant in acidic humus rich soil or ericaceous compost and place in light shade, avoiding early morning sun which can damage buds. Keep the soil consistently moist and feed in spring and early summer for strong growth and steady flowering.
